The Importance of SAT Test Results to Your College Career, And How to Enhance Them
SAT test results can determine whether or not a potential student is admitted to the college system. The SAT test is administered by the College Board, and has near-universal acceptance as the defining standard for testing student aptitude. There have been many dissenting voices over the years, but the administrators of the test have constantly worked to refine it, and have answered most of the criticism by improving the test. The most vociferous opponents of the test were the ones who claimed that thee was a bias in the results due to certain sections of the population being more familiar with the subject matter of questions.
This criticism was taken on board, and the College Board worked to eliminate the bias which statistics had proven was there. The tests are now bias free, at least as far as subject matter goes. There are still suggestions that bias exists in the results of the parts of the tests which need to be marked subjectively, although these suggestions are very hard to prove. The fact that the College Board uses multiple assessors on each paper will lessen the chance of biased figures being returned.
The SAT test measures three critical factors which a student will need to have a chance of succeeding in the college system. These are math, critical reading and writing. Each of these three disciplines is tested separately, but each carries an equal mark. There are 800 points available for each discipline. Math is obviously the easiest of the three disciplines for the board to mark objectively, as the answers given are either right or wrong. The board even advises students to make educated assessments in the multiple choice sections, rather than trying to make accurate calculations.
SAT test scores are available three weeks after any test has been completed. The only exceptions to this are when the student resides abroad, and where there has been a discrepancy with the payments. Students who live in foreign countries will need to allow six weeks before they can expect to see any results. In cases where the student has taken extra tests beyond those which they have paid for, the results will still be calculated, but they will not be made available to the student until the extra money has been paid.
The sending of SAT test scores has become somewhat controversial in recent years. It has been traditional for students to submit their best and highest score, but there are now colleges which expect every score to be submitted. The College Board has now produced a list of colleges which follow this practice, so that students know what they are in for before they start. Score Choice gives a student more choice, and more flexibility as to how they submit their SAT test results.

The SAT continues to show flaws as an accurate prognosticator of college success Since 1926, the College Board has been branding high school students with test scores that can significantly alter their path to college.
